Kate Smith

Creative Participatory Workshops

& Visual Art

Kate's methods are based on vast experience with approaches that use culturally relevant creative methods, enabling people to move from verbal to visual forms of communication that explore, analyse, plan and evaluate their realities and visions on their own terms. Mapping relationships between people, places and possibilities, these evolving methods are participatory, co-creative and fun. There is also the potential to use techniques that prompt critique of power dynamics and offer new insights into social and environmental transformations.

Kate has worked in nearly twenty countries worldwide, including Colombia, Guatemala, Palestine, Pakistan and Afghanistan. She has extensive experience working with Somali, Sudanese and other refugee and migrant communities in the UK.

Kate is also a visual artist, with a special focus on textile art. She is currently studying fine-art at Bath Spa University.
